Senior Creative Director, Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA)
Karen Berube earned a bachelor’s degree in industrial design from Syracuse University. She became IDSA’s senior creative director in 2013, after nearly 20 years of managing her own design studio, K.Designs, where she designed and produced magazines (most notably IDSA’s INNOVATION), newsletters, books, conference promotions and other communication materials from concept to delivery.
Her clients included: ASID; SEGD; The Nature Conservancy; American Forests and the US Department of Agriculture. Berube served as IDSA’s program manager and designer in the early 1990s. Her design roots are deep; she was an industrial designer for David Pesanelli Associates in Maryland, where she worked on the Postal Buddy—the US Postal Service’s self-service, mailing kiosk.
Berube is originally from Boston. She and her husband have three very sporty children. If she isn’t in the stands watching basketball or baseball, she’s watching her eldest cover Syracuse University basketball courtside.
